I tried to pry myself away from the tube this weekend to enjoy some of that rare Sequim sunshine, and it worked. My lawn is thanking me for it. Unfortunately, I don’t have a whole lot of good sports grist for the mill. Sorry.

Tar Heels? No kidding

Griffey takes his first swings tomorrow
I know I’m supposed to refer to him as Ken Griffey since his dad is retired, but he’ll always be a junior to me. Well, just Junior. Or “The Kid.” Whatever. He takes his first cuts as a Mariner once again against Australia's World Baseball Classic on Wednesday and I can’t wait.

A-Roid, wrestling and a basketball game change
First off, all you Sequim boys basketball fans, an update: no game tonight, thanks to the bad weather. Look for the Wolves (4-9 in league, 7-10 overall) and Vikings (13-1, 15-2) to tip off tomorrow night at 7 p.m. The girls’ game in Poulsbo has been similarly shifted to Wednesday night with the tip-off at 7 p.m.

Are 100 points too many?
Sportsmanship is a funny thing. Unless you coach a Division I football program, running up the score is simply not kosher. So what happens when two high school teams with significant disparity in talent or depth collide?
