Five Sequim High girls tennis players are moving on to the West Central District tournament after earning top-five finishes at the Olympic League tourney May 14-15 in Poulsbo.

Doubles partners Katrina Chan and Stacy Hanson, both sophomores, took first place in the doubles bracket, topping Kingston's Olivia Guevara and Lindsey Wicklein 6-1, 6-1 in the championship match.

Teammates Serena Okamoto and Hillary Smith took fourth in the same bracket to advance.

Sequim senior Kyla Hall finished third in the singles bracket behind Klahowya aces Tracy Landram and Maggie Becker.

Also competing at the league tourney but not advancing were Sequim singles players Jessica DeFilippo, a sophomore, and freshman Anna Prorok, along with doubles duo Hanna Smith (junior) and Elizabeth Shore (sophomore).

Sequim's girls join Sequim's boys at the West Central District 2A tournament May 21-22 at Auburn High School.

Sequim's boys qualified after their regular season in the fall. Advancing to districts are top doubles seed Reed Gunstone and Mallory Maloney; No. 2 doubles seed Byron Boots and Michael Lee; fifth doubles seed Donovan Lee and David Lopes; No. 2 singles seed Joe Puntenney; third singles seed Waylon Lam; and fifth singles seed David Richards.

The top three singles players and doubles teams advance to the class 2A state tournament set for May 28-29 in Seattle.
