Batting cages

moves to fall hours

The Sequim Batting Cages (775 W. Washington St.) are open 3-6 p.m. each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday through the end of the year.

Youths who purchase a membership can hit at the cages for a $75 rate through the end of December.

Owners Dan Perry and Kevin Royall said they're planning a batting league for businesses that begins when the Major League Baseball playoffs begin. The league is expected to last six weeks, with two games per week.

The batting cages facility owners recently installed a weight training room.

'Goblins' event

Friends of Olympic National Park hosts a public presentation of Smitty Parratt's book, "Gods and Goblins: Place Names of Olympic National Park" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at the park visitor center, 3002 Mount Angeles Road, Port Angeles.

Mooney Multimedia also is collaborating with the

Sequim Wolves Booster Club to produce a high quality DVD production of the majority of the 2009 season. Games are filmed and edited throughout the season and will be available complete with radio commentary (courtesy of KONP 1450), player and coach interviews, player statistics and other features.

The set will be available throughout the season for a $100 pre-order; individual games are $25 each. Fifteen percent of all proceeds are donated to the Sequim Booster Club.



Pool league

starts in P.A.

Juan de Fuca Pool League is opening registration for the 8-ball cash league at

7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Carpenter's Hall, 416 E. First St., Port Angeles. League play starts Sept. 22.

The league offers beginning and advanced players a chance to compete on an open playing field by the use of a player-on-player handicapping system.

Participants are eligible to compete in cash tournaments in Lincoln City, Shelton and Las Vegas after completing eight weeks of play. For more information, see www.

Sequim Little League's next board meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Little League clubhouse near the fields off Silberhorn Road.

SunLand hosts

Bridgestone equippers

Duffers wondering which golf ball to use are invited to SunLand Golf & Country Club for a special Bridgestone golf equipment event set for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, at the course (109 Hilltop Drive, Sequim).

Bridgestone representatives are scheduled to be on hand, letting golfers hit different golf balls to determine which ball is the best fit.

The event is free and open to the public.

Citizens group

hosts golf tourney

The Citizens for Sequim Schools, a grassroots group that helps school levy proposals, is hosting the first of what organizers hope is an annual golf tournament.

The tourney is scheduled for an 8 a.m. start on Saturday, Sept. 26, at The Cedars at Dungeness, 1965 Woodcock Road.

Cost is $75 per person for the four-person scramble. The fee pays for lunch, tee prizes and golf carts. Players have a chance at winning an automobile.

The tourney also features a raffle for a golf cart; tickets are $10 each.
