Indoor rowing event set for June 14

The second-annual Olympic Peninsula Indoor Rowing Championships begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 14.

The free event is at the Clallam County Family YMCA, 302 S. Francis St.

Divisions include four youth categories (kindergarten, grades 1-5, grades 6-8 and high school) and six adult divisions (19- to 35-years, 36 to 45, 45 to 55, 55 to 65, 65 to 75, and older than 75).

Walkers target marina for event

The Olympic Peninsula Explorers Volkssport Club's June 13 walk is at John Wayne Marina on Saturday, June 13.

The walk is 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) and follows country roads and the Olympic Discovery Trail. The walk is suitable for strollers but is steep in places for those in wheelchairs.

The group meets at QFC, 990 E. Washington St., shortly before 9 a.m. for sign-in.

PEP program

comes to Sequim

A Prevent injury, Enhance Performance (PEP) program is slated for Saturday, June 13, at Sequim High School, 601 N. Sequim Ave.

The seminar goes from 9-10:30 a.m. with a presentation in the school library, followed by demonstrations at the high school soccer practice fields.

SkyRidge celebrates birthday with tourney

The SkyRidge Golf Course, located at 7015 Old Olympic Highway, turns 6 years old this summer and hosts a two-person modified tourney, the "SkyRidge Chapman" golf tournament, at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 13.

Cost is $60 per team; fee includes 18 holes of golf, range balls, lunch after play, KPs and long putt awards.

Junior soccer opens registration for fall

Sequim Jr. Soccer officials are taking registrations for players in U-6 to U-15 age groups for the upcoming 2009 fall season.

The season begins Sept. 12 and runs through early November.

Registration is online only through July 19 at www.sequimjuniorsoccer.com.

Cost is $40 per player and a family cap of $110.

There is a $10 late fee after online registration ends.

The soccer group is seeking volunteers. If interested, call Ken Garling at 683-5628 or Don Lindorfer at 681-8587.
