While fellow students were enjoying spring break, Sequim's baseballers were looking for some on the field.

The Wolves earned a pair of Olympic League wins last week, dropping North Mason 7-5 on March 30 and Bremerton 14-0 on March 31.

Spencer Middleton hit a two-run, pinch-hit double to give Sequim a 4-3 lead in the sixth and later that inning, Drew Rickerson slammed a three-run home run.

Pitcher Alex Gillis held on for the win. Despite giving up seven hits and three walks, Gillis struck out nine Bulldog batters and pitched a complete game.

Jeremie Oliver added a pair of hits in the win.

A day later, Oliver and Anthony Washington combined on a five inning, mercy-rule shortened no-hitter at Bremerton.

Oliver struck out three and walked two in his four innings of work. Washington put the no-hitter to the test by walking three in the bottom of the fifth but wound up striking out the side.

Isaac Yamamoto was 1-for-2 with three walks, two stolen bases and four runs scored. Washington stole four bases and drove in two runs while Oliver added two hits and two RBIs. Ben Omdal also had two hits and Rickerson doubled to knock in two runs.

Sequim's fastpitch squad nearly knocked off perennial league powerhouse North Mason on March 30 but fell 4-3.

The Wolves got three runs in the first inning with Maddy Zbaraschuk's three-run double but the Bulldogs came back for the win with a run off reliever Demiree Briones in the ninth.

Sequim coach Mel Hendrickson said he thinks North Mason is very beatable, particularly since Sequim was missing several starters in that contest, including Chelsie Winfield and Lea Hopson.

The Wolves' baseball and fastpitch teams were scheduled to take on Forks on April 7 - results were unavailable at press time. Sequim hosts Port Angeles April 9.
