Mbunga leads

Bobcats to finals

Former Peninsula College hoops star Divaldo Mbunga helped the Montana State

Bobcats Big Sky Conference finals March 11 - and one win from the NCAA tournament - but Portland State prevailed, 79-77.

Mbunga scored 20 points and gathered 10 rebounds in the loss to Portland State, his fifth-double-double of the season. He averaged 10.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for the Bobcats in 2008-2009.

Mbunga was a second team all-division choice as a center in his freshman year at Peninsula and then earned first team all-division and second team all-conference as a sophomore.



Little League hosts clinics

The Sequim Little League hosts a trio of clinics this spring.

Youths ages 9-12 may participate in a baseball and softball camp from 1-4 p.m. March 22 at the Sequim High School fields, 601 N. Sequim Ave. Cost is $20 and players receive a Sequim hat and a snack. Money raised goes to the high school baseball and softball programs.

On April 4, the league hosts a free girls fastpitch clinic at the Little League fields (James Standard Park, 124 W. Silberhorn Road) from 1-4 p.m.

Also on April 4, James Standard Park is the site of a free umpire clinic from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information about the umpire clinic, contact Randy Perry at 360-710-9964 or by e-mail, sequimmariners@peoplepc.com.

Opening day for Sequim Little League is April 11 at 10 a.m.

Anglers host



halibut author

On March 19, the North Olympic Peninsula Chapter of Puget Sound Anglers hosts author and speaker Terry Rudnick at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.

Rudnick is the author of "How to Catch Trophy Halibut."

SkyRidge hosts Gut Buster tournament

SkyRidge Golf Course (7015 Old Olympic Highway) is home to the Gut Buster tournament March 21.

The format is individual medal play. Men play both nine holes from the black tees (6,710 total yards) while women play from the silver tees (6,070 total yards). The $55-per-player entry fee includes lunch, range balls, four KP holes, honey pot and a long putt contest on hole No. 18. First tee times start at 9 a.m. barring frost delays. Carts are $15 per seat.

SARC hosts

'Piloga' classes

Beginning April 4,the Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center offers a new exercise class called "Piloga" each Saturday morning from 10:15-11:15 a.m.

The class is a fusion of yoga and pilates that focuses on strengthening one's core while improving flexibility and balance.

The class meets at the SARC building, 610 N. Fifth Ave.

Cost per month is $11 for passholders, $41 for nonpassholders.
