Coach Kris Henrikson is clear when he addresses his players and their bid for a spotless season season.

"We didn't have a perfect season," Henrikson said. "But we did accomplish a perfect record."

And that was more than good enough for Sequim Middle School's eighth-grade varsity squad, who fought off a resilient Forks team Thursday for a 52-42 win to complete a 10-0 season mark and league championship.

Up 27-21 at halftime, the Timberwolves scorched Forks' Warriors for a 9-0 run to open the third quarter. But Forks answered right back with a 9-1 run of their own.

Forks trimmed Sequim's lead to 44-40 late before clutch free throws from Shawn Buck, Donovan Lee and Austin Law plus a put-back from Jayson Brocklesby sealed the game.

Sequim's effort comes on the heels of last year's seventh-grade league championship team that went 8-1, also capped by a season-ending win against Forks.

Henrikson said the Timberwolves' 10-win season wasn't easy, as the team battled through injuries.

"A lot of credit goes to players who worked hard in the off-

season," he said.
