Give the Trojans the win; the Wolves will take the fries.

Sequim bowlers broke two school records in a loss last week to state powerhouse Olympic, making good on a friendly wager with coach Randy Perry to earn some free food for their efforts.

With three games in three days, the Wolves went 1-2 last week, falling to Klahowya on Jan. 13 and Olympic Jan. 14, before rebounding with a sweep of North Mason Jan. 14.

Alex Whiteside led the charge for Sequim (5-8) against North Mason last Thursday, bowling a 302 series with games of 150 and 152. Breanna Krumpe was second on the team with 287 pins and Kim Duce was sharp as well, bowling a team-high 165 pins in the final game.

"Alex is just now starting to come around and get more consistent," Perry said.

Sequim won the second game 749-456, a 293-pin spread.

A day earlier, it was Duce doing the damage against the Trojans. The sophomore bowled a 188-pin second game and 334-pin series as Sequim totaled 812 pins in the second game, a school mark.

Krumpe was second on the team with a 322-pin series and Johanna Ewing had 302 pins.

Sequim's 1,748 total pins also set a school mark.

Olympic still swept the Wolves 7-0 behind Liza Ambrose's 390-pin series and 234-pin second game.

On Jan. 12, the Wolves managed to take one Baker-format game from rival Klahowya but fell in the end, 6-1.

Whiteside led the Wolves with a 277-pin series while her sister Sam had 270 pins.

Eagle Carys Bailey led all bowlers with an impressive 394 pins, including 225 in the second game.

Sequim needs to finish in the top four at the Olympic League tournament Jan. 27 in Silverdale to move on the West Central District tourney, slated for Jan. 31 in Tacoma.

"We've got an awesome shot at it - I've got my top five bowlers ready to go," Perry said. "They're all starting to understand the lane conditions. They are really wanting that competition."

Sequim was scheduled to bowl against defending state 2A/3A champ Bremerton on Jan. 20 - results were unavailable at press time. They take on Olympic's Trojans at home on Jan. 22, the last regular match before the Jan. 27 Olympic League tourney.

Perry said starters Alex and Sam Whiteside, Duce, Krumpe and Ewing, plus alternates Hope Haabala and Sarah Hogoboom, are set to bowl in the league finals.

"They are really gunning for Klahowya when they bowl (against) them in the tournament," Perry said. "I expect all of them, by the time we get to the district tournament, to be throwing 150s and above. I know they can do it."
