Sequim Baseball is hosting its second annual Indoor Holiday Hitting League. Teams are comprised of two players hitting for score, battling for prizes, passes and bragging rights.

The league features different divisions including, age grouping, father-and-son, mother-and-daughter, brothers and even lefties versus righties.

"Last year's hitting league proved to be great fun for players and parents," says Kevin Royall, co-founder of Sequim Baseball. "It's not only a good place to get your off-season cuts in, but a chance to get some quality time with your kids as well as teammates. It's a lot of fun to see families and especially the players compete, and the practice really pays off in the coming season."

Sequim Baseball, a nonprofit facility, has been able to open its doors for a second year thanks in large to the contributions from local businesses and foundations.

"We are here not only to provide a place to practice baseball but also provide alternative indoor activity for our youth, and the fact that we are indoors makes it a desirable place to be," says Dan Perry, Sequim Baseball's other co-founder. "We are membership-oriented, but we certainly could not keep the doors open without the support from the community."

Sequim Baseball supports all levels of the sport, from ages 7 up to seniors. Royall and Perry say Sequim's Senior League softball players often drop in before a game to loosen up.

"Last year was really great being in a position to benefit local all-stars at every level, boys and girls," Perry says. "We were able to invite our all-stars free of charge to work on their skills for the next playoff game. We're looking forward to another fun year."

The Holiday Hitting League begins Dec.15 and ends with playoffs Jan. 3. Two-person teams are $20. Individual pitching and hitting lessons also are available.
