Wolfpups kicks off season

with carnival, ceremonies

The Sequim Wolfpups football organization hosts the Wolfpups Spirit Carnival from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, beginning at the Sequim High School football field (601 N. Sequim Ave.) and finishing at the Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St.

The event is sponored by the Wolfpup cheerleaders and features food, games, prizes, contests, raffles, Wolfpup coaches dunk tank and more. The cheerleaders are slated to perform their halftime routine.

Walkers on the move

The Olympic Peninsula Explorers hosts a 10-kilometer and

5-kilometer volkswalk at 9 a.m., Sept. 13 at Fort Flagler. Route includes waterfront campground and batteries.

The group meets at Nordland General Store, 7180 Flagler Road, Nordland. The group then drives to Fort Flagler to start the walk. Lunch and meeting follows the walk at Valley Tavern in Port Hadlock, next to the Bank of America.

2008 Captain's Cup golf starts in early October

The 2008 Captain's Cup begins Oct. 8, the first of three rounds of competition, at Peninsula Golf Course in Port Angeles.

Successive rounds are at SunLand Golf Course (round two) and The Cedars at Dungeness (round three).

The event is 54-hole Medal Play competition. Only amateurs living in Clallam County with a valid USGA handicap are eligible. Sign up at any of the golf courses by Sept. 15.

Cost is $155 per person with three amateur divisions. Fee includes tee prize, range balls and all three rounds of golf.

SkyRidge Golf hosts annual 3-person scramble

SkyRidge Golf Course's sixth-annual three-person scramble is slated for a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Sept. 13 at the course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway.

Cost is $120 per team (honey pot is extra).

The event includes awards for gross and net division winners, tee prizes, team KPs, long putt award and lunch after play.

Only the first 22 teams to sign up will play.

Punt, pass, kick event comes to Port Angeles

The Port Angeles Recreation Division hosts the 2008 NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass, & Kick Competition at 1 p.m. Sept. 14 at Civic Field in Port Angeles.

The Punt, Pass & Kick Competition is a football skills competition for boys and girls of ages 8-15 (as of Dec. 31, 2008).

All equipment will be provided. No football shoes/cleats/turf shoes are allowed; only gym shoes with soft soles are permitted.

There is no fee to participate.

Top male and female finishers from each age group advance to the sectional competition. Participants are asked to bring a copy of their birth certificate.
