NFL Flag football

registration now open

Sequim NFL Flag football is accepting registrations for the fall 2008 season.

Players aged 6-12 (as of Sept. 1, 2008) are eligible.

Games are played at Greywolf Elementary School fields (171 Carlsborg Road) or the Boys & Girls Club (400 W. Fir St.).

Registration costs ($26 for Boys & Girls Club members, $32 for nonmembers) are to be made at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club. Registration is open until Aug. 25. Registration fee includes cost of NFL jersey and NFL flags.

Wolfpups registration opens

Sequim Wolfpups football and cheerleading has open registration through Aug. 18.

Wolfpups has been the Sequim organization for tackle football and cheerleading for more than 30 years. Football is open to players of ages 6-12, and cheerleading for participants of ages 5-13. For more information or to register, see www.go-wolfpups.com.

Volleyball officials needed

Local high school and middle school officials are seeking volleyball officials for upcoming seasons.

Individuals interested in learning to be volleyball officials need to attend training sessions beginning Aug. 19. Training includes theory as well as on-court practice.

Officials are compensated for each match worked and for mileage. Most matches are weekday afternoons and evenings, September through October. No experience is necessary but a basic knowledge of volleyball is helpful.

P.C., P.A. soccer

promote youth camp

The Port Angeles Youth Soccer Association and the staff of the Peninsula College men's soccer team host a soccer camp for youths of ages 8-13 from Aug. 4-8 at the college soccer fields, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

The camp is set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. daily under the direction of P.C. soccer head coach Andrew Chapman.

Cost is $99 per player; fee includes ball and T-shirt.

SkyRidge puts on WSU tourney

SkyRidge Golf Course (7015 Old Olympic Highway) hosts the Washington State University North Olympic Cougar Tournament on Aug. 10.

The event opens with lunch. Play opens with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.,

Format is a four-person scramble.

Cross country

offers car wash

Members of the Sequim High School cross country team are hosting a car wash from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 23 in front of Safeway, 680 W. Washington St.

Money raised helps defray costs associated with taking the 40-member team to compete in the Three-Course Challenge at Seaside, Ore., on Sept. 20.



Senior Games group

takes over P.A. McDonald's

A fundraiser for the Port Angeles Senior Games is slated for 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Port Angeles McDonald's restaurant, 1706 E. Front St.

A portion of proceeds goes toward the senior games, scheduled for Sept. 19-21.

Baseball club gets grant

from community foundation

Tom and Catherine Mix, representing Sequim Community Foundation, recently presented a $1,000 grant to Sequim Baseball U-18, Inc.

The grant is to help further the development of young baseball players ages 5-18.

"Young people will be benefiting from the grant money," said Dan Perry, Sequim Baseball U-18, Inc. president.

The club offers pitching and hitting for boys and girls in an indoor, year-round facility at 775 W. Washington St. in Sequim. There are currently 150 members.

Sequim Junior Soccer officials are seeking coaches for the upcoming season. Those interested in coaching can visit www.sequimjuniorsoccer.com and click on "register coach."

P.A. soccer kicks off

fall season registration

Port Angeles Youth Soccer is opening registration for the fall 2008 season. The season is open to children from ages 4-14.

Parents may register their children at www.paysc.com. Cost is $45 per player. Registration closes Aug. 10.
