The “Golf for Graduates” tournament, hosted by Parents for Safe Kids and the Community Foundation of Sequim, is scheduled for May 24 at SkyRidge Golf Course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway.

The tournament is a fundraiser for the Sequim High School graduating class of 2008, benefiting the alcohol- and drug-free party following graduation.

Play begins at 9 a.m. (check-in time 8 a.m.) and is a four-person scramble with a twist: On the day of the tournament, tourney officials auction off members of the Sequim High School golf teams (both boys and girls), adding a fifth player to teams.

Cost is $50 per person or $200 per team; fee includes 18 holes of play, range balls, lunch, awards, dessert and prizes. Mulligans, long putt contest and honey pots are all optional.

SkyRidge hosts ‘birthday’ tourney

Celebrating the course’s fifth anniversary, SkyRidge Golf Course is hosting a two-person modified Chapman tournament June 14.

Play starts at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.

Cost is $60 per team; fee includes range balls, lunch after play, plus KPs and long putt contests. Optional honey pots are $20 per team and tourney officials give awards for top gross and net play winners.

Play format is thus: Each player hits a tee shot and then hits his or her partner’s first shot lie for the second shot. From there it becomes alternate shots, using the better of the two second shots. The player whose second shot was not used will hit the third shot. Players alternate shots until the hole is finished.
