The Peninsula softball squad is streaking, but not in a good way.

A pair of losses to Shoreline on Friday, coupled with a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Olympic's Rangers Saturday afternoon leaves the Pirates with a 3-11 NWACC record and a four-game losing streak.

Other than a pair of forfeit wins to Edmonds earlier this month, the Pirates' only on-the-field conference win came on March 21.

Peninsula had chances against Shoreline, however. In game one, starter Sierra McCoy held the visiting Dolphin squad to five runs on seven hits, striking out three and walking nary a batter.

But Peninsula could only manage two runs on two hits. Kayla Ralston and Damaris Craig each knocked in runs.

In game two, Kelly Henderson was 3-for-4 with two doubles and Ralston added two hits, but errors at crucial junctures spoiled Peninsula's game and they fell 7-2.

Pirates 13-8.

"We seem to be getting better with every game we play (but) we still keep making errors at crucial times and the other team capitalizes on those mistakes," Peninsula head coach Heather Sankey said.

The Pirates did hit well in a pair of losses to Olympic the next day. The Pirates had nine hits but couldn't get a runner across the plate in an 8-0 loss in the opener. The Pirates also committed three errors. In game two, Peninsula managed more errors (five) than hits (two) in a 10-0 defeat.

The Pirates were scheduled to take on league-leading Bellevue at home April 15 - results were unavailable at press time. They travel to Skagit Valley April 25 and host Edmonds April 27.
