For the second year, Sequim Middle School students led their own conferences.
Through the year, students gather work samples and report cards for their personal portfolios to share April 29 with parents and guardians. Students chose their best work and shared it along with plans for improvement and the future.
The conferences were created to increase participation as parent-teacher conferences have less than 50-percent participation.
This year, 83 percent of families came, said principal Brian Jones.
