Leo Robert Beers
No service was held for former Sequim resident Leo Robert Beers who died Nov. 27, 2011, at the age of 87 at his daughter’s home in Seatac.
He was born on Aug. 2, 1924, in Yakima.
He served in the United States Air Force for 21 years and retired as a major. After his first retirement he worked at the Boeing Company as a flight instructor on the 737 until his second retirement.
He and his wife, Cathy, lived in Sequim for 25 years. They were active members of Sequim Bible Church.
Mr. Beers is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cathryn Marie Beers, of Kent; son and daughter-in-law Terry and Sue Beers; daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Mitch Taylor, three grandchildren and three  great-grandchildren.

 

 

Zane “Buzz” A. Griffin
Zane was born on September 19, 1922 in San Francisco to Cecil A. and Eleanor (Boone) Griffin and passed away December 5, 2011.  He spent his early years in Ketchikan, Alaska and his teen years in Klamath Falls, Oregon.  He attended the University of Hawaii and the University of Puget Sound.  His military career started at Fort Stevens, Astoria, Oregon and he flew the “Hump” in the China Burma India theatre during World II.  He was a retired (1966) USAF Lt/Col and a retired (1984) instructor pilot for Boeing Flight Crew Training.  He operated a Christmas tree farm on the Key Peninsula after his flying career.
He married Elaine Hage on June 19, 1946. She and their children, Brand N. (Susan) Griffin, Dr. Lane A. (Peggy) Griffin and Leslie A. (Gerald) Andrews and grandchildren Lauren Griffin, Cara Griffin, Natalie Griffin, Molly (Chris) Lalonde, Mitchell Griffin, Garrett Andrews, Grayson Andrews, Brin Andrews and Hayley Andrews survive him.  He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Cecil L. Griffin, and granddaughter Keely Griffin.
He enjoyed playing bridge, tennis, golf, and badminton.  He like cross country skiing, hiking, and dancing with members of the “Over the Hill Gang Dance Club” of Tacoma and the “Drill Team” of Ocean Shores and clogging with the Olympic Mountain Cloggers of Sequim and boating with the Duck Lake Yacht Club.  He loved to sing and play the guitar, ukulele, and clarinet.  Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.  There will be no services at this time.
