Katherine Plese
A Mass in honor of former Sequim resident Katherine Plese will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 8, at Mary Queen of Peace Church in Sammamish.
Mrs. Plese died May 3, 2009 at 87.
She was born April 4, 1922, in St. Ignatius, Mont., and grew up in Seattle.
She lived in Sequim from 1989-2003 and was a member of the Dungeness Golf Club.
She is survived by her children: Laura (Bill) Pond, Cathy Styer, Elaine Peretti, Julia Styer, Trish Styer (Mark Shipley), Margaret (Will) Paul and Sue Styer; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Plese; daughter Christine (Styer) Zobel; and son Richard A. Styer.

Betty Jean Fuson
A celebration of life for Port Angeles resident Betty Jean Fuson will be held at noon Saturday, May 9, at Lincoln Park, 1900 W. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.
She died April 28, 2009, at the age of 71 of lung cancer.
Friends and extended family are welcome to join in a potluck.
She was born Sept. 7, 1937, in Moscow, Idaho, to Daniel Oliver Severson and Nadeen Hamilton.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.

Louis Lambert Mrkvicka
A memorial service has been held for Sequim resident Louis Lambert Mrkvicka,
Mr. Mrkvicka died April 25, 2009, at the age of 83.
He was born April 29, 1925, in Omaha, Neb., to Lambert and Matilda Reimen Mrkvicka.
He served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946 during World War II. He was an electronic technician's mate second class on a minesweeper in the Pacific Theater. He married Betty Terry on July 24, 2004, in Sequim.
Mr. Mrkvicka worked for 35 years for Continental Can Co. in Omaha, Neb., Oakland, Calif., St. Louis, Mo., New York City, N.Y., Van Wert, Ohio, and Chicago, Ill.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Sequim, the Masonic order in Omaha and a life member of the American Legion in Van Wert.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; son Mike Mrkvicka of El Paso, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Teresa and Ken Henderson of Lewis Center, Ohio; and one grandson.
Irene D. Brockman
A celebration of life for Sequim resident Irene D. Brockman will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Brockman died April 26, 2009, at the age of 91. She was born April 18, 1918.
After living most of her life in Spokane, she moved to Sequim in 1993. She and her husband, E.W. "Brock" Brockman, were married 65 years. He died in 2003. They shared many adventures and worked as a team to provide a wonderful life to their family.
She is survived by her children and their families, Bill Brockman and Larry Miller; Ellen and John Larson; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Ledford A. Coggeshall
A committal service with military honors was held for former Sequim resident Ledford A. Coggeshall.
Mr. Coggeshall died April 26, 2009, at the age of 89.
He was born and raised in Indiana, joined the United States Navy after high school and served a seven-year term. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the attack on Dec. 7, 1941.
After receiving an electrical engineering degree from Tri State University in Angola, Ind., Mr. Coggeshall was employed by the Boeing Company as an aerospace engineer. He retired after 35 years and he and his wife, Mildred, relocated to Sequim.
He was actively involved with the Pearl Harbor Survivor Association and served as the local chapter president for two terms.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law James and Chris Coggeshall and Scott Coggeshall; daughters and sons-in-law Marsha and Jack LaBounty; Connie and Steve Hall; Bonnie and Gordon Sandstrom; Wanda and Mike Dickson; one brother in Virginia; four sisters in Indiana; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mildred, in 2003.
