Marland C. Glines

A service for Sequim resident Marland C. Glines will be held at 1 p.m. today, April 8, at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent.

Mr. Glines died March 26, 2009, at the age of 86.

He was born Sept. 17, 1922.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes, four children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, two brothers and one sister.

Linde Family Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.



John H. Clarke

A celebration of life for longtime Sequim resident John H. Clarke will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Las Palomas Restaurant, 1085 E. Washington St., Sequim. Call 808-3473 or 808-4651 to RSVP.

Mr. Clarke died April 5, 2009, at the age of 85.

He was born Sept. 5, 1923, in Pasadena, Calif., to Harold and Marian Clarke.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army tank division under Gen. George S. Patton.

He was a mechanic and machinist and owned and operated several small service stations before retiring from Alcan as a machinist in 1979.

Mr. Clarke moved to the Sequim-Dungeness area in 1989 from Riverside, Calif.

He was a lifelong supporter of the National Wildlife Federation and many animal rescue organizations.

He most enjoyed visiting his favorite restaurants in the Sequim area with a network of friends who became his extended family.

He is survived by his adopted son John "Butch" Clarke, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of

Oregon; a nephew and a niece.



Myrna Marie Sullivan

A service for Port Angeles resident Myrna Marie Sullivan will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at Lower Elwha Tribal Center, 2851 Lower Elwha Road, Port Angeles.

Ms. Sullivan died April 4, 2009, at the age of 65.

She was born Dec. 31, 1943, in Port Angeles.

Hogansen Cameron

A memorial service for Sequim residents Valmer William and Pearl Lillian Hogansen Cameron will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road, Sequim. Robert Clark will preside.

Mr. Cameron died March 31, 2009, at the age of 94.

He was born June 25, 1914, in McMinnville, Ore., to Alexander William and Ruth Adele Ogden Cameron.

He married Pearl Lillian Hogansen on May 16, 1940.

Mrs. Cameron died Oct. 13, 2008, at the age of 90.

She was born Nov. 23, 1917, in South Bend, to Louis and Tina Amalia Elida Alvenes Hogansen.

David Clough Calloway

A celebration of life for Port Angeles resident David Clough Calloway will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at Port Angeles Eagles Club, 110 S. Penn St., Port Angeles.

Mr. Calloway died March 10, 2009, at the age of 60 of pancreatic cancer.

He was born April 15, 1948.



Carol Cole Schiffers

A memorial reception for Sequim resident Carol Cole Schiffers will be held from 1:30-3 p.m. April 17 at The Fifth Avenue Retirement Center, 500 W. Hendrickson Road, Sequim.

Mrs. Schiffers died March 18, 2009, at the age of 96 after a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 16, 1912, in Portland, Ore., to William I. and Mabel Pearl Cole.

She spent her early years in San Francisco, graduating from Girls High School in 1930 and the University of California at Berkeley in 1934, where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority.

She married Carl J. Schiffers in 1936 and they moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. They made their home in Hawaii for 30 years and raised three children.

Mr. Schiffers was a vice president of The Hawaiian Electric Company when they retired in 1968 and moved to Wemme, Ore. They later moved to Sequim.

She was initiated into P.E.O. in Honolulu in 1952 and was a current member of Chapter H M, P.E.O., where she served as president in 1987-1988. She was a past vice-president of Pan-Hellenic Alumnae.

She was a member of American Association of University Women and attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Sequim.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law William Randall and Ellen Schiffers of Henderson, Nev.; daughter Barbara Cole Schiffers of Sequim; daughter and son-in-law Carol Anne and Neil Rasmussen of Nashville, Tenn.; and sister Judith Trowbridge of Hilton Head, S.C.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a grandson.

Roger G. Hershner

A service was held for Sequim resident Roger G. Hershner, who died March 8, 2009, in a helicopter crash in Moundridge, Kan.

He was born in Ohio and served in the United States Army. He married Holly Bliss in Port Angeles.

A helicopter and fixed wing pilot for nearly 40 years, he traveled extensively, living in California, Alaska and Hawaii.

He loved family and friends, science, music, reading and adventure.

He is survived by his wife, Holly; daughter Holly; four stepchildren; five grandchildren; sisters Gail and Sharon; and two nephews.



Estelle T. Gormley

At her request no service is planned for Port Angeles resident Estelle T. Gormley, who died March 31, 2009, at the age of 79.

She was born May 2, 1929, in Ross, Calif., to Mr. and Mrs. Clint Thoney.

Janice Mae Fairservice

No service has been reported for Port Angeles resident Janice Mae Fairservice, who died March 30, 2009, at the age of 77.

She was born April 28, 1931.

Ove Henriksen

A celebration of life for

Sequim resident Ove Henriksen will be held at a later date. Mr. Henriksen died April 1, 2009, at the age of 74. He was born March 12, 1935.

T. Ronald Marino

A service was held for Port Angeles resident T. Ronald Marino, who died April 3, 2009, at the age of 77.

He was born Oct. 7, 1931.
