Christine Virginia Allison

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. April 4, 2009, at Sequim Valley Foursquare Church, 9090 Old Olympic Highway, Sequim, for Sequim resident Christine Virginia Allison, who died March 25, 2009, at the age of 86.

She was born Jan. 16, 1923, in Corona, Calif., to Constance Justin and Euginia Maria Denoo Goubert.

She married Dwight Allison on Jan. 3, 1941, in Lovelock, N.Y. They settled in Dos Palos, Calif., starting a dairy farm. In 1964, following the big Alaska earthquake, the family moved to Seward, Alaska. She worked for Jesse Lee Children's Home, later transferring to Anchorage. She became a licensed dietitian.

The Allisons started Hilltop Home for juvenile delinquent boys, which they owned and operated for 11 years. She attended Muldoon Community Assembly in Anchorage.

After retirement, she moved to Sonora, Calif., in 1981 and attended Christian Heights Assembly of God. Cooking was her passion.

She volunteered countless hours at the churches she attended, usually taking command of the kitchen at each church. She bagged moose in Alaska and landed record-sized Albacore tuna off Baja Mexico. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics and cats.

She is survived by her daughters Linda Dotson of Sequim and Constance Allison of Fort Collins, Colo.; sister Esther Dickson of Rio Grande, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.



Albert Edwin Stroeher

At his request, there will be no services for Sequim resident Albert Edwin Stroeher, who died March 26, 2009, at the age of 90.

He was born Feb. 7, 1919, in St. Louis, Mo., to Charles Albert and Cornelia Weigel Stroeher.

He married La Dema Marie Siverts on March 17, 1945, in Anchorage, Alaska. She preceded him in death on March 15, 2006.

He served in the United States Army from 1941-1979. He served as a colonel of civil affairs during World War II in Alaska. He completed some college, including officers candidate school in the United States Army. Mr. Stroeher also lived in Seattle; Portland, Ore.; Anchorage, Alaska; Bellevue and Sequim, working in retail services. He was a member of the Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Charles and Joyce Stroeher of Port Angeles. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his son Gary Lee Stroeher in June 1992.

Sharldene Renee Williams

No service was reported for Sequim resident Sharldene Renee Williams, who died March 22, 2009, at the age of 71.

She was born April 9, 1937, in Hood, Ore.

Corbin E. Cook

No services were reported for Port Angeles resident Corbin E. Cook, who died March 28, 2009, at the age of 89.

He was born April 13, 1919.

Christine A. Parker

No service was reported for Sequim resident Christine A. Parker, who died March 20, 2009, at the age of 80.

She was born March 1, 1929, in Bellingham to August and Gertrude Lynge Anderson. She graduated from Bellingham High School in 1947.

She married Robert Parker in 1947 in Bellingham. He preceded her in death in September 1980.

Mrs. Parker lived in Washington most of her life but also lived in Crescent City, Calif.; Nigeria for three

and a half years; Palm Springs, Calif.; Chicago, Ill.; Santa Fe, N.M.; and Brookings, Ore.

She was a homemaker. She liked arts and crafts, including hooking rugs, crocheting and knitting, and loved anything to do with the beach and water.

She is survived by her sons R.W. James of Española, N.M., and Steve Parker of Sequim; daughter Nancy Cox of Canyon Lake, Calif.; brothers Carl Anderson of Sumner; Michael Brown of Florida; Patrick Brown of Sumner; and William Brown of Dallas, Texas; sister Francine Brown of Port Townsend; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.



Leona M. McAllister

A service was held for Port Angeles resident Leona M.

McAllister, who died March 27, 2009, at the age of 77.

She was born May 11, 1931, in Tacoma to William and Pearl Burr Mitchell.

She married Donald McAllister on Dec. 21, 1959, in Port Angeles. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1994.

Mrs. McAllister worked as a volunteer for the Port Angeles Police Department and also was a homemaker.

She enjoyed ceramics and floral arranging.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Cinda Bush of Graham; Samone and John Hanrahan of Port Angeles; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
