Kenneth Floyd Russell Jr.
A celebration of life/potluck for Port Angeles resident Kenneth Floyd Russell Jr. will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Port Angeles Moose Lodge, 809 S. Pine St., Port Angeles.
Mr. Russell died Feb. 3, 2009, at the age of 57 of cancer.
He was born July 13, 1951, in Fairfield, Calif., to Roberta Carol Sherman and Kenneth Floyd Russell Sr.
He married Teresa "Terry" L. Wheeler on Aug. 11, 1984, in Virginia Beach, Va. Mr. Russell worked in long haul trucking, as a salesman at Angeles Millwork & Lumber Co. and as
a correctional officer in Clallam Bay. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, golf, barbecues, playing pool and entertaining company. He was the first-place winner of the 1991 Salmon Derby. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Teamsters Union.
He is survived by his wife, Terry Russell of Port Angeles; son and daughter-in-law Jacob and Jennifer Russell of Port Angeles; stepsons Jay Wheeler and Jeff Wheeler of Port Angeles; stepson and daughter-in-law John and Annette Wheeler of Seattle; daughter and son-in-law Brandi and Darrin Ellsworth of Port Angeles; mother and stepfather Roberta and Keith Aggergard of Port Angeles; mother-in-law Helen McEwen of Port Angeles; sister and brother-in-law Cheri and Dave Hillstrom of Calif.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Russell Sr.; father-in-law Wes McEwen; and brothers David Russell and Gary Russell.

Barbara Lynn Hoine
A private family memorial gathering for Port Angeles resident Barbara Lynn Hoine will be held at a later date. Mrs. Hoine died Feb. 7, 2009, at the age of 75 of Alzheimer's disease.
She was born Nov. 24, 1933, in Arlington, to Clare Leonard and Florence Elizabeth Colby Cort.
She graduated from Everett High School in 1951.
She married Lonnie J. Hoine on Feb. 23, 1952, in Everett. Mrs. Hoine enjoyed sewing, knitting, camping, playing Scrabble and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Lonnie Hoine; son Jim Hoine; and daughters and sons-in-law Nancy and Lonnie Percival and Cindy and Tim Taff, all of Port Angeles; brother and sister-in-law Ed and Lillian Cort of Marysville; sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Lloyd Erickson of Everett; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Robert Hammer Jr.
Port Angeles resident Robert Hammer Jr. died Feb. 12, 2009, at the age of 38 of heart-related causes.
He was born Feb. 10, 1971, to Gloria Hammer and Robert Hammer Sr.

Bette Gall-Vaughn
No service was reported for Port Townsend resident Bette Gall-Vaughn, who died Feb. 2, 2009, at the age of 75.
She was born March 10, 1934, in Great Falls, Mont., to Pete and Dorothy Belle Vogel Napjus.
She married Alvin Gall in 1950. They were married for 25 years and had four children.
She married Richard Vaughn on Dec. 3, 1979, in Portland, Ore.
Mrs. Gall-Vaughn had many career accomplishments including being the first woman to work at an upscale men's clothing store, where she created a specialized store within the store; being a top salesperson for a cosmetics company; raising the most money in the nation for the Multiple Sclerosis Association; and working in television and writing for a local newspaper. One of her essays was published in an anthology.
Politically active, she was a member of National Organization for Women; Northwest Arthritis Association; National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare; the Smithsonian Institute; Planned Parenthood; and National Geographic Society.
She was co-owner and sales manager of Betric Traveling Tune-up in Sequim and Port Townsend with her husband, Richard.
She took much pleasure in playing her guitar and keyboard, serenading herself, her family and friends and occasionally performing in public.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; children and stepchildren Becky, Mike, Lori, Tim, Patti, Lonnie, Melinda, Randy and Randall; and eight grandchildren.
