A 37-year-old woman and two children were injured in a car wreck June 11 on U.S. Highway 101 at Sherburne Road.

At 3:54 p.m. Clallam County Fire District 3 responded to the report of a two-car rear-end collision, said Patrick Young, District 3 public information officer.

On arrival, fire crews found a pickup truck and a Ford SUV with severe damage, he said. Both cars were traveling westbound on the highway and the collision sent both cars across the eastbound lanes and onto the gravel shoulder before McDonnell Creek, he said.

The three occupants of the SUV, the 37-year-old driver and two children ages 15 and 11, were transported to Olympic Medical Center for treatment of possible neck/back and other injuries, Young said.

The 26-year-old driver of the pickup truck was examined but not transported, he said.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating the accident, which blocked the highway and caused significant backups. Fire District 3, Olympic Ambulance, Washington State Patrol, Washington State Department of Transportation and the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office were on scene.
