A group of local and statewide officials dedicated the new U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service building on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Dave Wesley, assistant regional director for U.S. Fish and Wildlife; Steve Tharinger, Clallam County commissioner; and Craig Jacobs, Clallam County Public Works director spoke at the event.

Elaine Grinnell with Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe blessed the new building and Five Acre School provided live music with their marimba band.

Offices for the Washington Maritime National Wildlife Refuge Complex are inside the building, which manages several refuges in and around Sequim: the Dungeness NWR, San Juan Islands NWR and Protection Island NWR.

Kevin Ryan, project lLeader, said," It was important for us to be located at Dungeness. This is the only local refuge that's open to the public."

"Where we were before at Barr Road wasn't convenient."

Land was purchased in the mid-1990s for the current development, he said.

The building is located at the end of Voice of America Road, off Lotzgesell Road, following a nearby brick path leading from the east end of the parking lot.
