Attendance at the 90th Clallam County Fair tipped the 30,000 mark and with her first fair as manager under her belt, Shari Ioffrida called the experience an exciting one. "The fair went very smoothly," Ioffrida said. "We had a great crowd and a nice mix of vendors. We had a fantastic fair and I'm looking forward to next year."

Ioffrida said most barn superintendents told her that exhibitors and exhibits entered were up, too. Cool temperatures for August and sunny skies also were easier on humans and 4-H/FFA animals than in past years.

It was standing room only for grandstand events: the rodeo, demolition derby and motorcross stunt shows. The grandstand seats 1,600 and fans who couldn't find one gathered at the fence. The rodeo at the Clallam County Fair also is a favorite among National Professional Rodeo Association participants - Saturday there were 51 rodeo contestants and Sunday, there were 70.

"I want to thank all the sponsors, the fair board, superintendents and assistant superintendents, our staff and many volunteers that helped make the fair happen," Ioffrida said.
