Port Townsend seeks Washington residents to create an art project for a revitalized two-block section of the town's downtown waterfront. This renovation is scheduled for completion in 2010.

The Port Townsend Arts Commission plans to augment the area along Water Street from the Northwest Maritime Center at Point Hudson to Quincy Street. The art could be a specific piece or could enhance existing structures.

The preliminary budget for artwork is $70,000, which has been allocated under the city's Percent for the Arts program. The budget includes design, materials, fabrication and installation costs.

Postmark deadline date for submissions is Oct. 14.
