The Olympic Medical Center Auxiliary donated more than $17,500 to Olympic Medical Home Health and Olympic Medical Center's medical/surgical/pediatric unit. The funds allowed the purchase of medical equipment including a noninvasive bladder scanner, an inflatable patient lift and a portable ultrasonic unit that determines blood pressure and blood circulation in the legs and feet.

Since 1980, the auxiliary has contributed more than $340,000 for the purchase of medical equipment or the enhancement of services at Olympic Medical Center.



About the donated equipment

_ The bladder scanner, valued at more than $12,000, is a portable, bedside ultrasound unit that allows hospital nursing staff to measure the amount of urine in a patient's bladder. It's noninvasive and more comfortable for the patient.

_ The hover jack, valued at more than $4,800, aids staff in safely lifting a patient. It is most useful for lifting patients from the floor after a fall.

_ A Doppler accessory kit for $715. The fully-

portable Doppler helps Olympic Medical Home Health nurses and wound care consultants identify the extent of vascular disease in the legs of patients with leg wounds.
