Bridge to replace culvert this summer

The culvert underneath West Sequim Bay Road will be replaced later this summer with a 31-foot-long, 31.5-foot-wide precast concrete bridge.
The wider, 28-foot opening will allow salmon to return to the estuary for habitat, food and security.
The approximately five-acre, 100-year-old Pitship Estuary is adjacent to the intersection of West Sequim Bay Road and Whitefeather Way. It is a saltwater marsh fed by the freshwater Silver Springs.
The North Olympic Salmon Coalition is funding the project with a $382,500 grant. The city is committed to providing $50,000 of in-kind engineering or other services as a match toward the grant.
Project bids will be opened at 2 p.m. Monday, July 13, at the Sequim Public Works office, 615 N. Fifth Ave. The project is expected to last 10 weeks.
