This week the Sequim Open Aire Market offers Friends of the Fields' legendary strawberry shortcake.

Stop by their booth for homemade shortcake with real whipped cream and the first strawberries of the season from Graysmarsh Farm. Saving farmland never tasted so good!

The market is open from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday on Cedar Street in downtown Sequim.

Featuring more than 60 local vendors, it includes produce, baked goods, fresh seafood, flowers and a variety of fine art and craft work.

Local musician Barry Burnett and featured guests will perform from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the market square.

Longtime vendor Pacific Northwest Naturals will offer fresh-cut culinary herb bouquets - a new item - as well as making custom cut-flower bouquets to take home.

Rand-Star Images is back with signature block prints inspired by travels around the world and across the peninsula. Port Townsend artist Debra Brochin is creating beautiful hand-painted scarves in addition to the fine art she is known for.

The Full Moon and Dragonlady Handicrafts offer a wide variety of hand-sewn items ranging from place mat and napkin sets, to hand-created Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, to fun and functional holders for water bottles or to-go coffee cups.

Community organizations this Saturday are the Master Gardeners Foundation, the Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Club and the Port Angeles Fine Art Center.
