Clallam County has been chosen to receive $24,621 to supplement emergency food and shelter and utility assistance programs in the county. These funds have been made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for agencies providing these services in Clallam County.
The selection was made by a national board that is led by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency. The board was charged to distribute $100 million appropriated by Congress to help expand the capacity of food, shelter and utility assistance programs in high-need areas around the nation.
Clallam County's local board, headed by United Way Executive Director Jody Moss, will make recommendations on how the county's appropriation will be distributed among local service agencies.
Eligible agencies interested in applying for ARRA Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds must contact United Way of Clallam County for an application at 457-3011, P.O. Box 937, Port Angeles, WA 98362. The deadline for applications to be received is Friday, May 15. Contact Moss at 457-3011 with any questions.
