Prevention Works! A Community Coalition of Clallam County, will meet from 4-5:30 p.m. Monday, April 13, in the lower level of Olympic Medical Center to hear Marian Birch, D.M.H., an expert in children's mental health.
Birch has more than 25 years of experience as a trainer, supervisor and practitioner of child mental health services, including a specialty in preventive work with at-risk infants and their families.
She is the author of the 2008 book, "Finding Hope in Despair: Clinical Studies in Infant Mental Health" published by Zero to Three Press.
Birch has been in private practice in Port Angeles since 1995, has been a consultant to behavioral health services for the Lower Elwha Klallam and Quileute tribes, and has provided pro bono consultation to First Step Family Support Center for 15 years.
Prevention Works!, a nonprofit organization, has been serving Clallam County for more than 10 years. The focus of the coalition is the prevention of child abuse and neglect, substance abuse and violence.
