What would you do first in the event of a zombie apocalypse?

Like many people in America, I enjoy "The Walking Dead," "Night of the Living Dead," "Shaun of the Dead," and other fun and sometimes scary romps through the world of brain-eating adventures and satire.

For a local spin, I asked my co-workers what would be some of their first steps in a Sequim Zombie Apocalypse. Here are their answers. Feel free to add your own thoughts.

Joan Worley, news assistant,
• Get ham radio working.
• Load all possible weapons.
• Gather water, food, matches, wood and gather more sharp, pointed sticks.

Mike Dashiell, editor,
• "If zombies only go after brains, then I feel safe. I'd drive around looking for the biggest brained people in Sequim and put them between me and the zombies."

Matthew Nash, reporter,
• Save family with heroic awesomeness, guns blazing
• Take care of necessities, like mail my bills and pick up prescriptions
• Take over SARC and lure zombies to deep end of pool where my man-eating shark will attack!

Amanda Winters, reporter,
• Barricade myself in a shelter made of titanium
• Have Hogwart's wizards protect the front entrance
• Line the entrance with pit bulls

Mark Couhig, reporter,
• Complete the iron-cladding of my home, which is now just three-quarters finished.
• Eat my dog. (Not because I'm out of food, but rather because I don't like him. And this seems like as good an opportunity as any.)
• Post my status on Facebook.
